PAUL WILSON

BACKGROUND

Description:

Paul is a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Nottingham and has a BSc and PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of Newcastle, UK. During his PhD he studied the influence of imperfect competition in the farm to retail food chain, integrating industrial economics, consumer behaviour analysis and production economics with an applied econometric framework.  In 1995 he was appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Nottingham where his research focused primarily on understanding drivers of farm and enterprise performance in order to guide policy making and industry understanding of the main performance drivers in UK agriculture.  Paul’s research expertise now focuses upon several key themes in agricultural and food economics and farm business management.

ROLE

Paul’s expertise in agricultural, food and land economics will help inform understanding of the costs and benefits of developing new businesses, products and markets from mezquite-based products, including the issues of income and wealth value-added distribution throughout newly developed local, regional, national and international supply chains.
