Dr. Charles Kilawe is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Ecosystems and Conservation, Sokoine University of Agriculture. He is a holder of a double degree Ph.D. in Geography and Forestry. His Ph.D. thesis was based on forest management and community engagement, focusing on sustainable farming practices in Tanzania specifically in terms of protecting soils, enhancing forest management, and protecting community livelihoods. His research focuses on fire ecology, the ecology and management of invasive plants, land-use change, GIS & Remote Sensing but has a general interest in the multidisciplinary approach in research.


Kilawe is the assistant project coordinator of Mezquite in Tanzania. His role is to coordinate and conduct field activities and stakeholder workshops.
